Chelsea are offering Messi an escape route out of Spain after he was found guilty of tax fraud.
"All I want to say is that I hope [the situation] is solved as soon as possible for their sake. Messi is still the best player in the world," said Xavi.
On the future of 'La Pulga' in Catalonia, Xavi added: "We must respect what he decides, but I don't want him to leave the club.
"He has a contract [until June 2018], I see he's happy and I wish him all the best."
